Foolproof security to be ensured for polling, counting of votes: DC

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer (DEO) Jitendra Jorwal visited strong rooms for electronic voting machines (EVMs) on Sunday to ensure that the polling process for the elections of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, various municipal councils and one Nagar Panchayat is held fairly and transparently.

He reviewed the arrangements at these locations and issued necessary directions to the officials. He stated that foolproof security arrangements would be made by the district administration during polling and counting of votes. Additionally, he inquired about CCTVs, power supply, fire safety measures and the maintenance and updating of official registers at these venues.

The DC emphasised that the district administration had established an elaborate system of security measures and procedural checks to ensure the complete security of the strong rooms.

The strong rooms have been set up at Government College for Girls, Bharat Nagar; Khalsa College for Women, Ghumar Mandi; Khalsa School; SCD College; KVM School; EVM warehouse at Polytechnic College, Rishi Nagar; Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana; Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Ludhiana; Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic College (GNE Campus), Ludhiana; S Kuldeep Singh Sekhon Auditorium, GTB National College, Dakha; SSD Government Senior Secondary School, Machhiwara; Office of Market Committee, Dana Mandi, Maloud; AS Modern Senior Secondary School, MK Road, Khanna; and BDPO Office, Samrala.

‘Perform duties with dedication, integrity’

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer (DEO) Jitendra Jorwal on Sunday motivated election staff to perform their duties with utmost dedication and integrity. In view of the elections for the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, various municipal councils and one Nagar Panchayat on December 21, training sessions for polling parties were conducted at several places. During the training, polling parties were informed about the entire election process, their specific responsibilities and how to handle EVMs. He said another training session would be organised soon.
