Food samples substandard, Rs 11L fine imposed in 3 cases

A court in Suratgarh, Sriganganagar, has imposed a fine of Rs 11 lakh in three cases wherein food samples were found to be substandard. The lab report of the three food samples was presented today.

Chief Medical Health Officer Ajay Singla said the Additional District Magistrate of Suratgarh imposed a fine of Rs 11 lakh in the three cases. He said the court imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on the Suratgarh-based Bhavani Mawa Bhandar from where one of the samples was taken.

Similarly, a fine of Rs 5 lakh was imposed after a khoya sample taken from Kayal Mawa Bhandar was found to be substandard on testing. In the third case, milk vendor Madan Lal Bishnoi of Jankidas Wala village was fined Rs 1 lakh.

Singla said the sample report of rice taken from a restaurant at Riddhi Siddhi Colony in Sriganganagar on October 12 was found unsafe. The sample of cheese taken from the eatery was also found to be substandard.
