Faridabad, February 25
As many as seven bids have been received for the appointment of the consultant for the proposed Faridabad- Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway.
As the tender is likely to be opened this week, this will be the third expressway which will pass through the district.
With the financial bids for the appointment of consultant already received and being examined, the department is likely to finalise the agency to take up the work from next month, sources in the PWD revealed.
The department had floated the tender for inviting the bids in December last year. Claiming that at least six of the seven bids received within the due time have been found technically fit, sources said that the focus was to start the commence the work before the imposition of the Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, said an official.
The expressway would reduce the travelling time from Faridabad to Noida and Ghaziabad, which are the important satellite cities, said an official.
The 32-km-long expressway would have a 10-km passage in Faridabad, while the remaining would be in UP, said an official.
Though the endorsement in principle was provided last year, the appointment of the consultant will boost the pace of the work, said the sources in the district administration.
The city which is separated from UP by the Yamuna river, has no direct connectivity to Noida or Ghaziabad at present. As it will be a joint project of Haryana and UP for which the budget is expected to remain around Rs 800 crore, fee of the consultant is likely to be around Rs 60 lakh.
The FNG and the Greenfield Expressway will be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which also passes through the city.
Pradeep Sindhu, Executive Engineer of the PWD, said the financial bid for the project consultant will be opened soon to ensure that work gets started within the stipulated time.
