Five robbers land in police net

Were planning to loot ATMs of three banks

The Ludhiana police claimed to have busted a robbers’ gang and arrested five of its members. They had been looting people by pointing sharp weapons and a toy pistol at them.

The have been identified as Manga Singh, a resident of Jeewan Nagar, Mantu Kumar of Happy Colony, Dev Kumar, a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Colony, Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Focal Point, and Vikas Kumar, alias Nepali, of Jeewan Nagar. The police also recovered three mobile phones, two motorcycles, one Honda Activa scooter, one toy pistol, one sharp weapon and an iron rod.

SHO, Focal Point, Gurpreet Singh Handa, in a statement issued stated that a tip-off was received that the suspects had formed a gang of robbers and they had been looting people by pointing sharp weapons and a toy pistol at the victims. They had even committed several incidents of loot and theft of vehicles in the industrial hub in the past. As per the tip-off, the miscreants had planned to steal cash from ATMs of three banks. Considering the seriousness of information, a police team was formed and a raid was conducted, which led to the arrest of the suspects.

Now, the police will seek police remand of the miscreants for further probe. A case was registered against the suspects on Friday.
