Firework sale locations designated in Nahan
To ensure the safety of both life and property during the festive season, Sirmaur Sub Divisional Magistrate Rajeev Sankhyan has designated specific locations for the sale of firecrackers and fireworks in the Nahan subdivision.
The SDM said firecrackers and fireworks could be sold from October 29 to 31 between 9 am and 9 pm at the Chaugan ground in Nahan, Satibagh in Dadahu, Markandeshwar Riverbank in Kala Amb and Mela 0Ground in Jamta.
Outside of these designated areas, the sale of fireworks and firecrackers was strictly prohibited, the SDM added.
For those wishing to sell firecrackers, licenses could be obtained through the SDM office or through the Executive Magistrate, Tehsildar or Naib Tehsildar.
Sellers must adhere to regulations and are not allowed to operate in any area other than the ones specified in their license, the SDM said.
The Executive Officer of the Nahan Municipality has been instructed to ensure that all lights at the designated sales locations remain functional during the night, providing a safe environment for both vendors and the public.
Any vendor found using inflammable materials, such as candles or matches, will face immediate cancellation of their license.
In addition, each vendor is required to keep a bucket of sand and 100 litres of water at their stall for fire safety purposes. Failure to comply with this safety measure will result in the revocation of the vendor’s license.
Fire Department officials have been directed to station a fire engine and staff at the designated location in Nahan to quickly respond to any emergencies related to fireworks.
The SDM has also directed the Assistant Commissioner of Excise and Taxation to inspect the sales records and vouchers of fireworks vendors to ensure that consumers are receiving fireworks at fair prices.
To prevent congestion, additional parking spaces near the Chaugan Ground, including the area near the old college, have been designated to avoid overcrowding of vehicles on nearby roads.
