Fire breaks out at Morepen Labs’ Parwanoo plant

A fire broke out at the plant of Morepen Laboratories Private Limited at Sector 2 in Parwanoo around 8.26 am today. However, no loss of life was reported though the unit suffered a loss of about Rs 10 lakh.

Two fire engines with 14 firemen were pressed into service to douse the blaze that started from the lift and spread to nearby areas. The blaze was controlled by 11 am due to timely action by firefighters.

The firefighters broke the glasses installed in the lift, which took sometime, said Santosh Sharma, Commandant, Home Guards, Solan. He added that the fire was controlled by 11 am though smoke that was billowing from some parts of the building took some more time to subside.

Meanwhile, the company management said that it was a small fire that was controlled before it could spread to other key areas.
