To accommodate the demand of resident doctors and to ensure their safety from on-duty violence in the PGIMER, the Health Ministry has issued a circular regarding provision of institutional FIR.

The circular states that an FIR would be registered within six hours in case of violence against any health worker on duty.

If a health worker is subjected to violence while on duty, it will be the responsibility of the head of that institution to register an FIR within six hours of the occurrence. The victim of violence will have to give information about the incident in writing to the head of his/her institution through the head of the department and request for registering an FIR.

After this, a copy of it will be sent to the Chief Security Officer for initiation of further action. If the victim is not in the state to complain or is not present, the head of the department will submit the complaint to the head of the institution.
