Fest under ‘Chalo Chamba’ campaign begins today
Chamba, January 24
A fest under the ‘Chalo Chamba’ campaign is being organised in Chamba from January 25 to 28. The event will feature a variety of activities related to tourism promotion and preservation of culture. It is being organised by Chamba Re-Discovered, Gabdika, Holistic Himalaya Farmer Producer Company, village committee Yaminu, and Yuvak Mandal Chadyara.
Manuj Sharma, co-founder of Not on Map, said the four-day event would kick off on National Tourism Day tomorrow with events such as sustainable journey, timeless memory and an insta-meet.
Rajiv Mishra, District Tourism Officer, said Republic Day would be celebrated on January 26 and traditional sports activities would be organised on January 27. A poetic symposium and medical camp would be held on the closing day, January 28.
The ‘Chalo Chamba’ campaign was launched in 2021 to tap the tourism potential of Chamba, one of the 112 aspirational districts in the country. The district lacks resources for livelihood but is rich in biodiversity. It has huge potential for hydropower generation, besides being rich in art, culture and history. The district also has some historical temples, numerous high altitude lakes and several trekking routes, which remain to be explored. The campaign aims at highlighting Chamba’s unexplored destinations on the world map.
