The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department during a recent inspection revoked the licence of M/s Sharda Agro Chemicals at Ghagga for unauthorised stockpiling of fertilisers.

Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Jaswinder Singh said a district-wide inspection of fertiliser dealers was underway following directions from Deputy Commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav.

During the inspection of M/s Sharda Agro Chemicals, it was discovered that the firm held additional stock of urea and other fertilisers without updating its licence.

This unauthorised inventory violated the terms of their fertiliser licence and Section 8 of the Fertiliser Control Order of 1985. As a result, the firm’s sales operations were immediately suspended, and its licence cancelled.

DC Dr Preeti Yadav said the price of DAP had been fixed, farmers could reach out to the Agriculture Department if a fertiliser dealer tagged a product while selling DAP or refused to sell DAP despite having a stock. — TNS
