February 13 ‘Dilli Chalo’ march by farmers: Barricading in Rohtak, Section 144 imposed in Jhajjar

Three companies of the Central Paramilitary Forces, including ITBP and SSB, have reached Rohtak and Jhajjar districts to deal with any emergency in view of the farmers’ proposed Delhi march on February 13. The authorities in both districts have also identified the points where barriers would be placed to prevent the entry of farmers.

Cops reaching out to khaps

SHOs are holding meetings with farm unions, khap panchayats, gram sarpanches and other prominent people to convince them not to participate in the march

Sources said the Delhi Police were also strengthening the security arrangements at Tikri, Najafgarh and Dhansa borders connecting Haryana from Jhajjar district. It had started stocking obstacles near the borders in order to place them at appropriate points. They were coordinating with the Jhajjar police to chalk out joint strategies.

“Two companies of the paramilitary forces have arrived in Rohtak and one in Jhajjar district. The personnel will be deployed at crucial points to assist the police,” said the sources.

Rohtak SP Himanshu Garg said adequate arrangements had been made in the district to maintain law and order. “We are coordinating with Jind and other districts in connection with security arrangements at the borders. Structural barricading has been done and concrete blocks have been placed at various points. We have appealed to people not to indulge in any activity which causes public inconvenience,” he said.

Jhajjar SP Arpit Jain said all SHOs had been asked to hold meetings with farm unions, khap panchayats, gram sarpanches and other prominent people in their area to convince them not to participate in the march.

“Adequate security arrangements have been made and Section 144, CrPC, has been imposed. We will not let law and order deteriorate in any condition,” he said.
