Deputy Commissioner Sona Thind said the lifting of the procured paddy in the district’s grain markets had started. Rice millers in Amloh Subdivision, Sanghol and Khamanon had signed contracts for milling and started lifting the procured paddy. She said the millers of Sirhind and Bassi Pathana were likely to follow suit as they had assured the administration in the regard.

The DC said, besides this the process for procurement of paddy was going on smoothly and there was no shortage of gunny bags. She said there was a problem of lifting at certain procurement centres and it would be sorted out soon as efforts were being made to persuade more and more rice millers to sign contracts.

Assistant Food Supply Officer (AFSO) Jaspal Kaur said the process of making an agreement with the remaining shellers in the Amloh subdivision would be completed soon. She said all arrangements were complete in the market and no problem would be faced by any party related to the purchase of paddy.
