Fate of 40 candidates sealed in EVMs in Yamunanagar

The fate of 40 candidates was sealed in electronic voting machines (EVMs) in Yamunanagar district on Saturday. For the results, candidates will have to wait for two days till October 8 when counting of votes for Haryana Assembly takes place.

There are four Assembly constituencies in Yamunanagar district – Jagadhri, Yamunanagar, Sadhaura and Radaur. As many as 11 candidates including Kanwar Pal Gujjar on BJP ticket, Akram Khan on Congress ticket, Adarsh Pal Singh Gurjar on AAP ticket and Darshan Lal Khera on BSP ticket contested election from the Jagadhri Assembly constituency.

Sitting MLA and BJP candidate from Jagadhri Assembly constituency Kanwar Pal Gujjar cast his vote at his ancestral village Bahadarpur.

Congress candidate from Jagadhri Assembly constituency Akram Khan cast his vote in Khizri village and expressed confidence in his victory. AAP candidate Adarsh Pal Singh cast his vote in Jagadhri and said that the voters wanted a change here, therefore they had made up their mind to ensure his victory.Ten candidates, including BJP candidate Ghanshyam Dass Arora, Congress candidate Raman Tyagi and INLD-BSP alliance candidate Dilbag Singh contested election from Yamunanagar Assembly constituency.

Raman Tyagi cast his vote in Mumidi village, Ghanshyam Dass Arora in Model Town and Dilbag Singh in Yamunanagar. Dilbag Singh said he had been in public life for the last 20 years, therefore the public would give him a chance to serve them.

Nine candidates including Congress’ Renu Bala, BJP’s Balwant Singh and INLD-BSP alliance’s Brijpal Chhappar are contesting from the Sadhaura Assembly constituency. Sitting MLA Renu Bala’s husband Rishipal expressed confidence that he would register a win this time too. From Radaur Assembly constituency, as many as 10 candidates including BJP’s Shyam Singh Rana, Congress’ Bishan Lal Saini, BSP’s Dharampal Tigra and AAP’s Bhim Singh Rathi contested the election.
