Farmers urge Punjab govt to implement new agriculture policy
Office-bearers and activists of various organisations who work for the interests of farmers have accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government of deliberate delay in the implementation of new agriculture policy. They said the AAP had a hidden agenda to harness the political support of various outfits of the farmers.
The activists accused the leaders of some farmer unions of being ‘hand in glove’ with the Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann and other senior functionaries of the government. Farmers have urged chiefs of all constituents of Samyukt Kisaan Morcha to clear their stand on various demands of farmers, including the implementation of the new agriculture policy, without further delay.
Addressing a meeting of farmers here, a senior functionary of the Kisaan Wing of the Congress Party, Ranjit Singh Mangat, alleged that senior functionaries of some Kisaan Unions and Khet Mazdoor Unions have been playing ‘friendly match’ with the state government and Centre by keeping innocent farmers busy on the pretext of fake protests and dharnas.
He said, “Now that the hidden agenda of the government and farmer outfits has become an open secret, common farmers have started comprehending that the AAP wanted to harness the political support of unions during forthcoming by-elections.”
