A meeting of the Bharatiya Kisan Ekta (BKE) was convened under the leadership of state president Lakhwinder Singh Aulakh in Sirsa district.

The meeting focused on the upcoming poll. Aulakh said this was the right time to expose politicians who had harmed the farmers and promised that they would travel village to village to highlight the injustices inflicted by these leaders.

Aulakh announced that they would launch the “Farmers’ Justice March” on September 18, starting from Ganga village in Dabwali. He said those politicians claiming to be champions of the farmers would soon come seeking for votes. He said the Centre had imposed three contentious farm laws in 2020. After a prolonged 378-day protest in Delhi, the farmers succeeded in getting the laws repealed.

Since February 13, the farmers are back protesting at the Shambhu Border, Khanauri, and Ratanpura Border, demanding debt relief, minimum support price, and justice for martyrs from Lakhimpur. Aulakh accused some politicians of having previously ordered direct firing on the farmers at the Khanauri and Shambhu Borders and warned the farmers to remember these actions when these politicians came asking for votes.

He criticised Aditya Chautala for switching allegiance from the BJP to the INLD while claiming to be a farmer’s saviour, despite his earlier role in ordering lathicharge against the farmers. Aulakh also targeted Dushyant Chautala for his hypocrisy regarding development issues, contrasting his criticism of the Rama Refinery with his silence on the harmful effects of the E-20 Green Ethanol factory.

Aulakh urged the farmers not to let these issues divide them and to remain united, despite the manipulative tactics of the politicians.
