Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared this information with Indian Council of Agricultural Research scientists at an event this week.

He asked the scientists of the top institute whether they agreed with the idea of a special radio and television show where top-class global and domestic agricultural research information and update is passed on to Indian farmers to help them raise productivity and cut costs.

“Should the benefit of science reach farmers or not? Should the latest information reach them or not? Prime Minister Narendra Modi told us to conceive a programme in the mould of his own famous ‘Mann ki Baat’ series. We have now decided to have a programme called ‘Kisaanon ki baat’ once a month. It will be launched in September on radio and TV platforms. Top agricultural scientists will sit in the programme, departmental heads will sit, we will also sit and share the entire research with the farmers. They will get information on how best to prepare for rabi sowing, how to deal with crop diseases and much more,” Chouhan said.
