Hundreds of commuters heading to Rajpura and Chandigarh from Patiala were left stranded after Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan), Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Bhadaur) and Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Azad) blocked the Patiala-Rajpura highway to protest against the MSP cut imposed due to discolouration of paddy.

Farm leader Harpreet Singh Daun Kalan said officials were imposing cut on the pretext of discolouration of grain. “We demand that farmers be given full price for their produce. We will continue to protest until the officials give us assurance,” said Harpreet.

The commuters were seen taking alternative routes which resulted in chaos on internal roads of the Urban Estate in Patiala city.
