Farm fire count 76 in Jalandhar, Kapurthala

The total number of farm fires in Jalandhar and Kapurthala have reached 76. Until today 61 fires were reported at Kapurthala and 15 in Jalandhar.

On Friday, two farm fires were reported in Jalandhar and Kapurthala, each.

Until October 8, during the paddy harvest season, 25 farm fires had been reported in Kapurthala and Jalandhar — 16 in Kapurthala, 9 in Jalandhar. In less than a fortnight, the farm fires have more than doubled in Kapurthala.

While there was a relative pause in the number of farm fires during the panchayat polls, the cases have started rising again after the polls were finished. On Dasehra day, one farm fire was reported in Jalandhar and 11 at Kapurthala.
