To engage medical students in its campaign against drugs menace, police officers of Faridkot held a meeting with the students of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital here to sensitise medical students about the growing drug menace. The initiative aims to empower future healthcare professionals, including doctors and medical staff, to play an active role in the fight against drug abuse, said Ashwani Kapoor, DIG Faridkot range.

The event, which saw direct interaction between police officers and medical students, focused on educating the students about the severe consequences of drug addiction and misuse. It emphasised the critical role of ‘doctors in the making’ in spreading awareness within society as they move forward in their careers.

During the event, DIG Ashwani Kapoor and SSP Dr Paragya Jain highlighted the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and medical professionals in eradicating drugs.

The programme was part of a large-scale effort to increase cooperation between the police and the public in tackling drug-related issues. The students, who will soon be at the forefront of healthcare services, were encouraged to take up a leadership role in raising awareness about the dangers of drugs and in advocating their elimination, said the DIG.

Dr Rajeev Sood, Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), said this collaboration would contribute significantly in reducing drug abuse and its associated social harms, ultimately leading to a healthier society.
