Mohali private hospitals fail to display treatment charges
Mohali, May 19
Attendants of Covid patients at private hospitals in Mohali have complained that a notice of the Department of Health and Family Welfare regarding treatment charges is largely going unnoticed.
In most of the hospitals, the notice is displayed on A4 paper at the entrance which misses the eye of visitors. There have also been complaints that some private hospitals have not displayed a list of the government-mandated treatment charges more than two months after the order was issued.
Mohali Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ashika Jain said: ‘’We had received three-four complaints after which the administration got strict. If there is any private hospital which is not displaying the list, we will take appropriate action.’’
At least four private hospitals, Grecian hospital, Fortis hospital, Shalby hospital and Sohana hospital have displayed the list in public area but in varying sizes.
To check overcharging by private hospitals, the state government has fixed the charges for different categories of hospitals according to the illness status of patients. — TNS
