Extend admission deadline, student activists demand

The Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) here today demanded university authorities to extend the deadline for admissions in all its colleges.

A delegation of the student body met Pro-Vice-Chancellor Rajendra Verma and submitted a memorandum of their demands to him.

ABVP campus president Avinash said despite thousands of students being unable to get admissions due to various reasons, the admission process in all colleges of the HPU had been stopped.

Students from across the state were contacting ABVP activists, urging them to demand an extension in the deadline for admissions in various courses, he added. The student body warned the university administration of launching a mass movement against it if the demand is not met. — TNS
