Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the BJP was trying to hide its failures by attacking the Congress as it had no achievements to show till now despite being in power for 10 years. He said Congress had made Haryana the number one state in per capita income, per capita investment, employment and law and order.

Interacting with mediapersons at his residence, Hooda said the Congress government had made Haryana number one in development, while the BJP had made it number one in poverty.

Development claims exposed

The BJP should tell what happened to its development claims and promises of doubling farmers' income. If there has been development during the BJP's tenure, how did such a large population become poor? Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Former CM

Rohtak mla seeks CBI inquiry
Demanding a CBI inquiry, Rohtak MLA BB Batra has said: “The Haryana Parivar Pehchan Patra Act calls for verification of each detail submitted by an applicant. The “not verified” data has to be communicated back for correction. Has this exercise been carried out? Surprisingly, 75 lakh BPL population has been added in the last two years. There is a huge disparity when we consider the per capita income, which is one of the highest and the GSDP growth rate, which is even higher than the national average.” Thanesar Congress MLA Ashok Arora echoed the same views.

“Government figures themselves show that today 70 per cent of the state's population has reached below the poverty line. This is a clear report card of the failure of the BJP government,” he said.

“The BJP should tell what happened to its development claims and promises of doubling farmers' income. If there has been development during the BJP's tenure then how did such a large population become poor,” he questioned. Speaking on the Governor's address, Hooda said there was neither any kind of vision, nor any roadmap for the future. “The government has presented the old wine in a new bottle. The answer given by the Chief Minister in the discussion on the address was also not satisfactory to the questions of the public and the Opposition,” he said,

“The government says that there is no shortage of DAP. If this is so then why are there long queues? Why do farmers have to wait so long for the fertiliser,” he added.

“The truth is that the government did not stock the fertiliser in time. The government should have had a stock of one lakh metric tons, but it had only 53,000 metric tons. This is the reason why fertilizer is distributed inside police stations in the BJP rule. There seems to be no preparation and it is feared that when farmers will need urea, the situation will be the same,” he said.

“Instead of solving the problems of the farmers, the government is imposing cases and fines on them on the pretext of stubble burning. The government should fix MSP for stubble and buy it and instead of taking action against the farmers, they should give them a solution to this problem,” he stated.

Speaking on the recruitment scams, Hooda said he had shared a WhatsApp chat in the Assembly. “At that time the government had agreed to investigate it, but to date no investigation has been done. The Deputy Secretary in the office of HPSC was caught red handed with lakhs of rupees and many employees in the office of HSSC were caught tampering with the recruitment results,” he said.

“It became clear from their interrogation that every recruitment was sold. Despite this, the government did not take this investigation forward. Nor did it state what action has been taken against which officer in the whole matter,” he demanded.

On the issue of separate Assembly for Haryana, Hooda said the government should not give up its right on Chandigarh. “Haryana has a 40 per cent share in Chandigarh. Therefore, a new Assembly should be built along with the existing one, not on some other land far away. Along with this, the issue of water and Hindi-speaking areas should be strongly raised with Punjab, and Haryana should take its rights,” he said.
