Chandigarh, May 11

As cyber security becomes an increasing cause of concern, the government is mulling a new national security directive that will ensure that only secure and trusted equipment can be connected to our telecom network. This was stated by Lt Gen (Dr) Rajesh Pant (retd), National Cyber Security coordinator.

He was speaking during the 33rd foundation day of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Mohali. He drew a parallel between cyber security and the ongoing pandemic.

“The pandemic, which is characterised by radical uncertainty, gives us important lessons in cyber security because the later is also characterised by similar uncertainty,” he said.

Dr VK Saraswat, member of the Niti Aayog and Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, talked about the evolving technology in the field of supercomputing. He said the national supercomputing mission, spearheaded by C-DAC, was developing peta-scale computing systems that would take India into the league of supercomputing powers of the world.
