New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to Hyderabad businessman Abhishek Boinpally in a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy scam. A Bench led by Justice MM Sundresh made its earlier order granting interim bail to Boinpally absolute after Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the Enforcement Directorate, did not oppose his bail plea. On March 20, the top court noted that the businessman had been in custody for 18 months and directed his release on interim bail for five weeks. On August 13, it extended the interim bail granted to Boinpally. Since then his interim bail has been extended from time to time.

3 held for fake currency supply

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested three suppliers of fake Indian currency and seized counterfeit notes worth Rs 3.98 lakh from their possession, officials on Monday said. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Zubair, alias Sonu (26), Fazil (19) and Mohsin (19), all residents of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.

18 Christians get seat in Stephen’s

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday granted admission to 18 Christian students in the St Stephen’s College of the Delhi University. The court said the students would be able to attend their classes from Tuesday. The court pronounced the judgment on a petition filed by St Stephen’s seeking directions to the DU to approve and upload the list of all Christian candidates forwarded to it by the college. The college had sought directions to the university to open the fee-payment portal for 19 Christian students. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said the court is happy that 18 of the 19 students were entitled to get admission in Stephen’s according to their merit.
