Ex-Punjab AIG seeks copy of un-relied documents
A local court has issued notices to Chandigarh Police on an application of Malvinder Singh Sidhu, former Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Punjab Police, to supply un-relied documents to him.
Sidhu was arrested by the police for allegedly shooting dead his son-in-law Harpreet Singh at the Chandigarh District Court on August 3.
Besides, Sidhu has prayed before the court to issue direction to supply copy of photos, copy of DVD and pen drive mentioned in the charge sheet filed against him.
In the application filed before the court through advocates Rabindra Pandit and Siddharth Pandit under Section 230 of the BNSS, the accused said a copy of the charge sheet was supplied to him by the police.
He said on perusal of the charge sheet and relied upon documents, it has been found that complete data has not been provided to him by the police.
He said there were certain documents, which were not clear and legible, as such, it is submitted that legible copies of the same may also be provided.
Counsel argued that un-relied documents have to be supplied in terms and directions and guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, the court has also allowed Sidhu’s application for issuing fresh directions to Superintendent, Model Jail Burail, Chandigarh, to take him to PGIMER in custody, for getting conducted his prescribed medical tests.
Harpreet Singh was present in court for a hearing related to his divorce case when the accused allegedly killed him.
