Former MLA Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu accused her ex-personal assistant along with the US-based NRI among others for allegedly duping her of more than Rs 2 crore on the pretext of registration of an SCO in Ranjit Avenue in her favour.

A senior police official said probe was underway and action would be taken as per merit of the case, which had been forwarded to Economic Offences Wing.

In her complaint, Dr Sidhu said Gaurav and his accomplice Jagjit Singh told her that US-based Angad Pal Singh through his maternal uncles Mangal Singh and Sukhwinder Singh of Dolenangal village in Beas wanted to sell SCO No. 10 located at Ranjit Avenue. They insisted to pay some advance to book the said property.

The former MLA alleged that as she demanded her money back, Angad through his uncle Ravinder Singh of Hargobind Avenue and Mangal approached her stating that the sale deed of the SCO would soon de done in her favour. For assurance, they gave a power of attorney of the property in her daughter’s name in February 2023.

She said she had learnt that the cheques she gave to Gaurav and Jagjit were encashed and the money was shared by them with Ravinder and Mangal.
