Ex-minister Krishan Murti Hooda to launch drive to hold dialogue with farmers

Amid the ongoing farm protest at the Shambhu border, former minister and BJP state spokesman, Krishan Murti Hooda, is slated to launch a campaign in the district on December 22 to meet local farmers to know about their problems so as to get those resolved.

The saffron party leader met Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Chandigarh yesterday to inform him about the campaign.

“The campaign will be launched from Kharawar village here while holding ‘samvaad’ (dialogue) with local farmers to know their issues. I have set a target to cover 150 villages in the next two years. During the campaign, farmers will also be made aware of various schemes launched by the BJP government for their welfare,” said Krishan Murti.

He said the BJP government had taken many steps to double the farmers’ income in the past decade. Consequently, they supported the BJP in the Assembly elections that led to the formation of the BJP government for the record third time in the state.

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, Murti alleged that when the Congress was in power in the state, it acquired their costly and fertile land at cheap rates in the name of development but later sold it to corporate houses at higher prices.

“The previous Congress government rendered the farmers landless while the BJP worked to enhance the farmers' income by launching several schemes, besides paying compensation for crop losses,” claimed the BJP leader.
