Rajkumar Hirani’s masterpiece is the story of three strangers who land up in an engineering college and become a family. It is based on Chetan Bhagat’s book, Five Point Someone. Starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, the film explores the power of friendship. This remained the highest grossing film of 2000s.
Kai Po Che, Netflix
The film, marking Sushant Singh Rajput’s debut on the silver screen, was based on the Chetan Bhagat novel The Three Mistakes of My Life. The book and the film, both depicted a tight bond between three friends through all kinds of troubles. Kai Po Che starred Amit Sadh and Rajkumar Rao alongside Rajput.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Netflix & Prime Video
The three musketeers, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol created such magic on screen that is still difficult to recreate. In fact, in true bestie fashion, Akhtar actually asked Deol to never sing again. It was because he wanted his voice to be unique in the song Senorita!

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Netflix
This 2013 rom-com, marking Ayan Mukerji's second directorial venture, encapsulates love, friendship and every other emotion at its peak. The leads, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kalki Koechlin, in preparation for the film, took a road trip from Chandigarh to Manali before the shoot began. Their camaraderie surely translated well on screen.

Dil Chahta Hai, Netflix
Starring Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, this film marked the directorial debut of Farhan Akhtar. The film explored the lives of three best friends from college and how they navigated through the turbulence of adult life. It also starred Priety Zinta and Dimple Khanna in pivotal roles.

OLD IS GOLD
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Zee5
This coming-of-age film was inspired by the 1979 American film Breaking Away, and stars Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, Deepak Tijori and Pooja Bedi. Directed by Mansoor Khan, the film’s iconic song Pehla Nasha marked the beginning of Farah Khan’s career as a choreographer.

This 1981 film, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Amjad Khan as childhood friends, gave us the national friendship anthem of India in the form of the song Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan. While the director of the film was Rakesh Kumar, portions of the film, including the iconic song Saara Zamaana, were directed by actor Kader Khan.
