Netflix India announces 17 upcoming titles
Netflix on Thursday unveiled an exciting line-up of 17 upcoming titles, including six Bollywood films, six Netflix Original Films and five web series. The Bollywood films include Ludo, a unique comedy drama about four people whose lives collide with each other, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapur, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Pankaj Tripathi and Pearle Maaney; Torbaaz, an emotional story of transformation starring Sanjay Dutt; crime thriller Raat Akeli Hai, featuring Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui; Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, a stirring drama about two cousins and their quest for freedom, starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Bhumi Pednekar; romantic comedy Ginny Weds Sunny, featuring Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey; and an animated romance film titled Bombay Rose.
The six upcoming Netflix Original Films include Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, starring Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role; a dysfunctional family drama titled Tribhanga – Tedhi Medhi Crazy, featuring Kajol, Tanvi Azmi and Mithila Palkar; a horror story set in a village in Punjab titled Kaali Khuhi, featuring Shabana Azmi; Serious Men, a witty drama based on Manu Joseph’s novel, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui; an intense police drama Class Of ’83, featuring Bobby Deol; and a uniquely entertaining dark comedy AK vs AK, starring Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap. The five web series are Mismatched, A Suitable Boy, Masaba Masaba, Bombay Begums and Bhaag Beanie Bhaag.
Talking about Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare releasing on OTT, Bhumi Pednekar said, “As an artiste, I only look to entertain audiences every time I come on screen and am okay with any platform becoming the vehicle of my creative expression. In this day and age, producers will do what is needed and we must all support each other’s decisions.”
Vikrant Massey, who will be seen opposite Yami Gautam in Ginny Weds Sunny, said, “It’s an incredible feeling that the film has been acquired by Netflix. We are really looking forward to the responses and happy to be a part of the Netflix family. It’s a beautiful film made with a lot of heart.”
Meanwhile, the Chandigarh-born producer of Torbaaz,Rahul Mittra said, “We are happy to announce Torbaaz with Netflix, a platform which brings the film to discerning audiences in India and in 190 countries around the world. This is truly exciting.”
