Mishkat Verma, who is seen in Anandibaa Aur Emily, talks about his journey
How has your journey been in the industry so far? Any struggle that you have faced?
The journey has been more rough than smooth. That is how this profession is, you go down and then up and you should be mentally strong to face it. The unconditional support from my parents made me sail through the struggling days.
Tell us about your new show Anandibaa Aur Emily.
It is a comedy-drama. Its unique point is that this show does not preach anything. It is a lighthearted family drama which you can watch with your family.
You are playing a Gujarati character. How did you prepare for the role?
Before the shoots, we had a week-long workshop where I was advised to make sure that my English does not sound too fluent as my character is from a small town in Gujarat. I shed some weight, and even got my ears pierced.
How was your shooting experience with your co-stars Jazzy Ballerini and Kanchan?
Initially, there were a few hiccups with Jazzy since there was a communication gap. But now we have become the best of friends. Kanchan ma’am is a sweetheart. She is a very sweet sensitive soul who’s always trying to spread love.
Do you feel that TV content has become more progressive now?
Not really. Because in every television show you’ll find some similarities. There might be a man who likes to hit women and they end up falling in and out of love and so on. Even supernatural shows are working, and I’ve been a part of them. I love the medium, it may not be progressive but I stand by it.
What influenced you to pursue a career as an actor?
When I was in school, I was very bad at studies. My sister was Miss India International and was an actor. I come from a filmy family. So, everything was just pushing me towards that direction and most importantly I myself wanted to be an actor as well.
Are you open to working in a web-series?
Yeah, I am. If an opportunity strikes then I will definitely go for it. I would definitely like to explore that platform. It’s new and there’s potential.
What’s your dream role?
I would like to play Baahubali. I love the character and its epic visuals.
What is your fitness regime?
My fitness regime is just workout to remain healthy. I am not interested in having rippling muscles unless the role requires me to have such a physique.
