Meher Vij, who has been a part of two blockbuster films, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Secret Superstar, was recently seen in Vicky Kaushal-starrer Bhoot :The Haunted Ship. The actress is now all set for a digital debut with Neeraj Pandey’s Special OPS on Hotstar. Here’s a candid chat with Meher…

You started with TV and then moved to films. How has the transition been?

I would say it was tough because I was earning well and television shows give you instant fame. But there was a time when I realised that I am not getting creative satisfaction in what I am doing. TV has its own limitations. After a day’s work in a film, when I reach home I get that adrenaline rush that yes I have performed.

Are you happy with the kind of roles you are doing?

The kind of work I have done in the last few years makes me happy. But I guess I have just started. There are many shades and roles that I need to explore now.

What made you choose Special OPS?

This show gave me the confidence that I could also play an undercover agent. I have trained myself in martial arts for this role. And I seriously hope that this role will break the myth that I can only essay a mother’s role.

What is your dream role in films?

I would like to play a witch or a psychotic character that has many layers. Or maybe a possessive housewife. Any role which has the darker side. I believe in the law of attraction; it might be late, but I know I will get that one day.

Do you also have a plan to produce or direct in the future?

I would love to produce good content.

Have you done Punjabi films as well?

I did one film Ardaas, where I had a very substantial but small role. The concept was very good and that’s why I took it up. If I get some substantial roles, I will surely work in more Punjabi films. Being a Punjabi I would love to explore my region.
