Celebs support Multiplex Association of India’s plea after Delhi shuts down cinema halls due to Covid
The Delhi government has decided to shut down cinema halls, gyms and spas in order to curb the Covid spread. However, now the Multiplex Association of India’s (MAI) has written a letter, requesting the government to reconsider the decision and to reopen Delhi cinemas. The MAI letter stated that the Delhi government’s decision has caused ‘massive uncertainty’ which could lead to ‘irreparable damage’ to the film industry.
Moreover, referring to the period from March 2020, the letter mentioned that it was ‘undeniably the most challenging’ time for the film industry.
Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon took to their Instagram Stories and asked fans to read MAI letter and also requested the government to reconsider it. Karan Johar earlier urged the government to permit the functioning of theatres. His post read, “We urge the Delhi government to allow cinemas to operate. Cinemas are equipped with better ability to ensure a hygienic environment while maintaining social distancing norms as compared to other out-of-home settings.” —TMS
