Chandigarh, August 26

Actress and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Nusrat Jahan has been blessed with a baby boy at a private hospital in Kolkata on Thursday afternoon.

Jahan, who was admitted to the hospital in Park Street on Wednesday evening, gave birth to the child around 12.20 pm.

Jahan's actor-friend Yash Dasgupta was present at the hospital, a film industry source said.

Both mother and the baby are doing fine.

Jahan's estranged husband Nikhil Jain said, "There might be differences between us, but I am wishing the newborn and his mother all the best. I wish the baby boy has a bright future."

Earlier today, she had shared a picture of herself on Instagram, writing, "Faith over fear."

In June, Nusrat said her relationship with her businessman husband Nikhil Jain was more of a live-in one given that the marriage was not valid in India—a development that comes amid speculations of their separation.

In a statement she put out on social media, Nusrat Jahan, a Member of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress, said her marriage to Jain had taken place in Turkey and was not registered under the Special Marriage Act in India, the act that deals with interfaith marriages.
