Aakanksha Singh roped in for Mayday
You have done two short films – Qaid and Methi Ke Laddoo. Tell us more about them…
Qaid is based on Nicky Chawla, who got her sex changed when she was 20-years-old and when I heard her story, I was like I have to do this film! In Methi KeLadoo, it was amazing working with ZarinaWahabji.
Any short film which you liked recently?
One short film I want to name is Chutney. Tisca Chopra has done a really good job in it. In fact, the whole cast of Chutney is amazing.
Having a background in television, do you think entry into films was easy?
I think Bollywood has become more accepting when it comes to TV actors now, unlike before. Moreover, I think irrespective of the medium, an actor is an actor. Given the opportunity, every actor can perform. Even though I started with television, I never felt that I was limited to any medium. I have done theatre, TV and then films. I don’t think a medium can bind any actor.
Who is your inspiration in Bollywood and why?
I would not name one particular person because I get inspired by different people in different films. Actors such as Rajkummar Rao and Siddhant Chaturvedi are really doing well. Senior actors such as Naseeruddin Shah sirand Amitabh Bachchan sir are a huge inspiration.
You will be playing Ajay Devgn’s wife in Mayday. How does it feel?
It’s a dream come true to be a part of such a big film. I am so excited to share the screen with Ajay sir and Amitabh Bachchan sir. The icing on the cake is that Ajay sir is directing the film too.
