Ensure supply of clean water to residents, Batra tells officers

Newly elected Congress MLA from Rohtak Bharat Bhushan Batra has stated that ensuring all-round development of the city was his top priority and he hopes that the state BJP leadership will also rise above party politics for the purpose.

Addressing a news conference at Rohtak on Friday, Batra said the city required a micro-management plan, adding that the provision of clean drinking water, resolution of waterlogging, overhaul of the sewerage and cleanliness were on the top of his list.

“The supply of contaminated water for drinking is the biggest problem of the city. It is a matter of grave concern that sewerage water often flows on the roads and even gets mixed with drinking water due to leakage and faulty pipelines,” the MLA maintained.

He told the officers concerned to ensure the provision of clean drinking water. “I will raise the issue of clean drinking water emphatically in the state Assembly and will even stage protest demonstrations on the streets if required,” said Batra.

He said the second biggest problem of the city was poor sanitary conditions. He said that a master plan would be prepared to ensure cleanliness in the city.

Regulating the city traffic was also a big issue, he said, adding that the area-specific reasons behind frequent traffic jams and congestion would be identified to reach a permanent solution to the problem.

Batra said he would meet the Chief Minister and seek a special grant for filling potholes on the city roads.
