Ensure prompt grievance redressal: Chief Secy Joshi to officials
Haryana Chief Secretary Vivek Joshi has called upon senior officials to establish operational systems in their respective departments that prioritise rapid resolution of public grievances. Leveraging modern technologies and expert services was highlighted as a key strategy to achieving the goal.
Joshi was in Gurugram on Sunday to hold a review meeting with officials of the district administration, GMDA, MCG, HSIIDC, NHAI and other departments. The Chief Secretary directed officials to take strict legal action against contractors or private firms failing to meet departmental standards. He stressed that no citizen should face issues related to basic amenities such as electricity, water and roads. Any arising problems must be addressed promptly, he said.
The Chief Secretary highlighted the need for GMDA and MCG to integrate advanced technologies into waste management and urban services. The officials were encouraged to seek expertise from other states, if necessary. Joshi also underscored the importance of collaboration among departments to ensure adequate public facilities for Gurugram’s residents.
Gurugram Division Commissioner RC Bidhan urged GMDA and MCG to devise long-term plans in view of the city’s growing population. Projects on stormwater drainage, road maintenance, and sanitation were reviewed in depth during the three-hour meetings Meanwhile, GMDA CEO A Srinivas announced that major road repair projects would be completed within the next six months. Additionally, new buses would be introduced next year to improve public transportation. Efforts were also underway to address sewer overflow issues in areas such as Narsinghpur, Khandsa, Rajiv Chowk and Ambience Mall, he added.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashok Garg discussed plans to issue tenders for energy production from 1.4 million tonnes of waste at Bandhwari. The Chief Secretary advised them to ensure careful drafting of tender conditions for effective implementation.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to resolving public grievances. He highlighted efforts to address the concerns of Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWA) and improve public transport.
