Personnel at various government departments responsible for providing civic amenities at localities falling under rural areas were advised to ensure that residents live a dignified life in a clean and disease-free environment.

An advisory was issued on the subject by Deputy Commissioner Dr Pallavi and a suvidha camp was held under the ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ campaign at Khurad village on Wednesday. About 250 residents of various localities of Malerkotla subdivision visited the camp held under supervision of the DC and got their issues resolved on the spot.

Cleaning of ponds, premises of public spaces such as dharamshalas and parks and provision of safe drinking water were cited among top priorities.

Senior functionaries of the Agricultural Department, Fisheries Department, Horticulture Department, Cooperative Department, Industrial Department and Animal Husbandry Department highlighted details of various social welfare schemes being launched by them from time to time, besides resolving complaints received from visitors during the camp.

Changing of particulars in Aadhar Cards, mutation in case of registered deeds, widow and old age pension, economically weaker section certificate, issuance of residence certificate and new smart card; were among the most sought services during the camp.

The DC said special camps were held at public places in various villages — falling under all the three subdivisions of the district — under the ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ programme of the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Showing satisfaction of the outcome of camps being organised periodically, the DC said: “The organisation of camps under direct supervision of senior officers, including me, has gone a long way in resolution of those issues which used to remain pending or delayed for a long time. Having noticed the need for cleanliness of ponds and public places, I have advised the personnel concerned to get these works done on priority.”

The organisers claimed that complaints received during the camps were either redressed on the spot or a process for the same was initiated today.
