New Delhi, August 18

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has ramped up its preparations for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, energised by the recent release of senior leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia from jail.

Sisodia, who spent 17 months in jail, has quickly re-entered the public sphere, kicking off his return with ‘padyatras’ across the city and engaging with party officials to strategise for the upcoming elections.

‘BJP misusing Central agencies’

“Our padyatra is receiving overwhelming love and support from the people of Delhi,” said Sisodia. “The BJP’s conspiratorial attempts to imprison AAP leaders have angered the people of Delhi. The Central Government is determined to keep our leaders behind bars until the Assembly elections, but we are not intimidated. We are here to pursue politics of action.”

Sisodia also accused the BJP of misusing Central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to target AAP leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, AAP’s national general secretary (organisation) and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sandeep Pathak emphasised the party’s focus on strengthening its organisational framework.

“The AAP workers’ conferences are being held across all 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi. In these conferences, local MLAs are presenting their four-and-a-half-year performance reports to the public,” Pathak stated. He added that the party’s top leadership would participate in a workers’ conference at Chhatarpur on Monday.

In addition to these organisational efforts, the AAP has launched the “Auto Samvad” campaign, aimed at engaging with autorickshaw drivers across the city. AAP Delhi state convener Gopal Rai said this campaign would see autorickshaw drivers spreading the party’s message and highlighting the Kejriwal government’s achievements.

“The autorickshaw drivers of Delhi will bring Kejriwal’s work to the public’s attention. They will also expose the BJP’s conspiracy to hinder Delhi’s progress,” Rai said. He urged autorickshaw drivers to speak out against the BJP, saying that if the Kejriwal government is ousted, the cost of free electricity, water and other public services could double.
