Two teams of the enforcement wing of the Municipal Corporation, led by Assistant Engineer Krishna Kumar, launched a campaign against encroachments in Zone 3 and Zone 4 areas on Saturday.

The teams removed encroachments from the Sector 27/28 road, Sohna road and their surrounding areas. During the anti-encroachment drive, the teams took action against unauthorised structures — including encroachments by street vendors, stalls, tin shed structures, kiosks, etc.

Earlier, the enforcement wing of the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran had removed encroachments from the Sector 14 HUDA market.

A majority of the parking space was encroached upon by over 100 street vendors, allegedly with the help of some influential people. The shopkeepers had rented space outside their showrooms and booths to street vendors, causing inconvenience for visitors.

Meanwhile, MC Commissioner Narhari Singh Banger has warned violators of strict action against encroachments. “Due to encroachments, available roads become narrow, leading to disruption of traffic movement and inconvenience to commuters. Besides, pedestrians are forced to walk on the road, which also poses a risk of accidents,” he said.
