The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) conducted a demolition drive on the bus stand road in which encroachments were removed from Agrasen Chowk to bus stand via Mahavir Chowk and further up to gaushala on the Old Delhi road, a spokesman for the GMDA said today.

Almost all unauthorised rehris were removed and about 15 rehris were demolished during the drive. Officials of the Gurugram Municipal Corporation were also present and actively participated in clearing the demolished material from the roads and issued challans to the violators.

Additionally, 150 shops were razed and many eateries which had illegally extended their premises up to the main carriageway of the master road faced demolition. It was also found that 50 bike repair shops and accessory shops on the Old Delhi road had encroached about 10 m of the 30-m road area. The District Town Planner of GMDA, RS Batth, directed the owners to remove all vehicles and clear the front premises/area of the shops.
