Elderly man dies of Covid, 137 fresh positive cases in Ludhiana

As many as 137 fresh cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the district on Wednesday. The virus claimed the life of another person here.
For the prevention of coronavirus, people are being appealed to wear masks, maintain social distancing and wash or sanitise their hands. The Health Department confirmed that 153 patients, including 137 from Ludhiana and 16 from other districts or states have tested positive for virus today.
As per information, 21 persons from Ludhiana came in contact with positive patients, 52 visited OPD and 43 with influenza-like illness visited the Flu Corner. Besides, 21 others, including 10 healthcare workers, have tested positive for the virus.
Civil Surgeon Rajesh Bagga said one patient each from Ludhiana, Amritsar, Fazilka, Bathinda and Jammu and Kashmir died of the virus today. The deceased from Ludhiana, a 70-year-old man from Mayapuri on Tibba Road, was undergoing treatment at the CMCH.
A total of 907 persons from Ludhiana district and 389 from other districts or states have died due to the virus so far.
According to the Health Department, a total of 4,63,850 samples had been taken till date, of which 4,35,304 samples were tested negative while reports of 2,188 samples were pending.
Of the total 23,079 confirmed cases in Ludhiana district, 20,495 confirmed cases (788 deaths) were reported from the Ludhiana city sub-division till date. In the other sub-divisions, 749 cases (28 deaths) were reported from Jagraon, 678 cases (34 deaths) from Khanna, 469 cases (14 deaths) from Raikot, 367 cases (25 deaths) from Samrala and 321 cases (18 deaths) came to light in Payal.
As many as 21,232 patients have recovered till date. There are 937 active cases of Ludhiana district. As per information, at present, seven patients, including two from Ludhiana and five from other districts, are on ventilator. A total of 3,280 samples were collected for testing today.
