Eight phones seized from 12 jail inmates

Officials of the Ludhiana Central Jail conducted a surprise check, which led to the seizure of eight mobile phones from 12 inmates.
The suspects have been identified as Sarvan Singh, alias Gabbar, Kulwinder Ram, alias Kinda, Mandeep Singh, alias Deepi, Kanwaljit, alias Kamal, Karamjit, alias Karma, Nitin, alias Gocha, Amarpal Singh, alias Bunty, Kuldeep Singh, alias Deep, Pardeep Kumar, alias Babla, Somnath, alias Sonu, and Sabar Ali.
ASI Gurdial Singh said on July 25, assistant superintendent of jail Daulat Ram and his team conducted a surprise inspection. Besides searching the premises, the jail inmates were also frisked and eight mobile phones were recovered from them.
The ASI said further probe would be conducted in the case to inquire about the source providing mobile phones to the inmates. Recovered mobiles would also be sent for forensic examination to probe into the matter.
A case under the Prisons Act was registered against the inmates and further probe was launched by the police. — TNS
