Education Minister Thakur inaugurates Rs 95 lakh bridge
Education Minister Rohit Thakur today inaugurated bailey bridge on the Nihari- Garawag link road constructed at a cost of Rs 95 lakh.
Thakur, during his visit to the Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly segment, also inspected work of the Kudi-Mohli link road, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 3.92 crore. He directed officials to expedite the construction work.
Addressing the public on the occasion, he said his family had always had a close relationship with Garawag panchayat. “Himachal Pradesh is a hilly state. Due to its difficult geographical conditions, roads play an important role in its development, especially in Jubbal-Nawar-Kotkhai, which is an apple-rich area. Horticulture is the main occupation here,” he said.
“It is only by construction of more roads that financial condition of the people in the state can improve,” he said.
“In the past two years, at least 100 roads have been approved for the Jubbal-Nawar-Kotkhai area. A target has been set to pass at least dozen more roads by the end of this fiscal,” he said.
The minister said the Jubbal-Kotkhai area region was blessed with abundant natural beauty. He said there were immense possibilities of tourism promotion in this region.
Taking a dig at the previous BJP government, Thakur said under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, last time almost no roads were sanctioned for Jubbal-Kotkhai. He said the Congress government had approved Rs 190 crore for the construction of roads in this area.
He said the state government was taking strong and effective decisions to ensure quality education in Himachal Pradesh. the results of which would soon be visible. Later, Thakur held a meeting with officials, employees and teachers of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Engineering College in Pragati Nagar, Gumma.
