East Bengal scored four second-half goals to record a sensational come-from-behind victory, beating Punjab FC 4-2 in their Indian Super League match. The match marked the first instance that East Bengal emerged victorious in an ISL match after trailing by two or more goals.

EB thus secured their maiden ISL win against Punjab FC, after a draw and a loss in their two previous meetings.

Punjab grabbed the opener through Asmir Suljic in the 21st minute. They doubled the lead after Ezequiel Vidal’s individual brilliance in the 39th minute.

East Bengal emerged as a re-energised unit in the second-half. Defender Hijazi Maher headed in a free kick in the 46th minute. Vishnu Puthiya came on as a substitute in the 48th minute and six minutes later drew East Bengal level. East Bengal rode on this wave of momentum and went ahead after an own goal by Suresh Meitei in the 60th minute. Three minutes after Punjab were reduced to 10 men, David Lalhlansanga made it 4-2 in the 67th minute.
