External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will lead an Indian delegation to Islamabad, Pakistan, for the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) Summit on October 15 and 16, marking the first high-level visit from India to Pakistan in several years.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed on Friday that Jaishankar will head the Indian delegation to the SCO Heads of Government meeting. SCO is a multilateral body that includes Russia and China as members, with Pakistan hosting this year’s summit.

When asked if Jaishankar would meet his Pakistani counterpart, Jaiswal said he could not comment at this time. “The visit is specifically for the SCO meeting,” he added.

Regarding a potential meeting with Pakistani officials, Jaiswal stated that, so far, the minister’s travel plans are limited to the SCO summit. “If there are any developments, we will let you know,” he said.
