Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said people of the Hamirpur constituency should vote for the Congress to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and to add new dimensions to the development of the constituency.

Addressing public meetings in the constituency near here today, he said the BJP leaders would come here and try to mislead the public, but people here must keep in mind that the Congress government is a stable government as it is led by the son of Hamirpur, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

The Deputy CM added, “To ensure development and bring welfare programmes to the district, an MLA like Dr Pushpender Verma is needed. He would take your demands effectively to the CM.” He assured the gathering that he would do everything to address grievances of the constituency.

Agnihotri said he heads two departments — Transport and IPH — and every demand pertaining to water supply and transportation would be dealt effectively as per the needs of the constituency, while other issues would be addressed by the CM himself.

He said Ashish Sharma betrayed people of the constituency and disrespected their mandate.

Lambasting former CM Jai Ram Thakur, Mukesh Agnihotri said the BJP leaders had different opinions on Thakur’s visit as he had ignored the constituency during his regime. Agnihotri said that Thakur ignored the district due to his equations with former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal and Anurag Thakur.

He said the construction of a bus stand that was announced by Dhumal in 2011 was ignored by Thakur, but Sukhu had initiated the work with an outlay of over Rs 60 crore.

The Deputy CM said the Hamirpur Medical College was also established due to the efforts of Sukhu in 2014. He added that the Congress would win all three byelections and urged people to strengthen Sukhu, who hails from the district.
