Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri met Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil in New Delhi today to seek the urgent release of funds under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

He said the Centre had allocated Rs 916.53 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission for the current financial year but till date, the released only Rs 137.48 crore, thus hampering the ongoing works.

Agnihotri urged Patil that the first and second tranches of the funds under the Jal Jeevan Mission be released so that the ongoing schemes could be completed. The issue of permission for the execution of 67 winter water schemes of Rs 517.16 cr, including vibrant village schemes, to ensure regular supply to tribal areas was also discussed. Patil assured Agnihotri that necessary funds would be released soon.

He requested the Union Minister to release Rs 135 crore for the current financial year so that the execution of the Phina Singh irrigation project could be expedited.

Agnihotri requested Patil to approve five sewerage projects for Solan and Kandaghat, Dadahu and Rajgarh in Sirmaur and Pabbar-Chirgaon, Rohru-Sarswait Nagar in Shimla under the Namami Gange project.
