DTC bus gutted at Jagatpuri; none hurt
New Delhi, August 29
A DTC low-floor bus carrying 50 passengers was gutted in fire in east Delhi’s Jagatpuri area on Thursday, an official said. The police said they received a call at 9.48 am regarding fire in a DTC cluster bus.
Shahadara Deputy Commissioner of Police Surendra Choudhary said: “After reaching the spot, it was found that fire broke out in a DTC blue cluster on route No. 340, from Central Secretariat to Seemapuri. The area was cordoned off and the passengers were rescued. Three fire tenders reached the spot immediately and extinguished the fire.” Fortunately, there was no casualty and no passengers received any injury. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit in the vehicle’s air conditioning system, a Delhi Fire Service official said.
