Drugs seized from prisoner
The Central Jail administration has recovered narcotics from a prisoner, who returned from parole. After receiving a complaint in this regard, the police have registered a case. Assistant Superintendent Sukhdev Singh posted in the Central Jail said Harjinder Singh of Pansara was sentenced to 10-year jail in a drug-peddling case. He said when Sukhdev returned after eight weeks of parole, the jail staff searched him. During this, a khaki-colored envelope was found from him in which 1.90 gram of cannabis and 26 intoxicating pills were recovered. The police have started further action after registering the case.
2 more fugitives in police net
Phagwara: The Jalandhar Rural Police arrested two wanted criminals. The arrests were conducted under the supervision of SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh. The accused have been identified as Baljinder Singh, alias Baljinder of village Bangiwal Khurd, Mehatpur, and Sukha Singh of village Pakhowal, Kapurthala. SSP Khakh said these arrests were a significant achievement in the ongoing battle against criminals in the region.
Mobile phone snatched, 1 held
Phagwara: The police have arrested a 'snatcher', who was fleeing after snatching a mobile phone from a B-Tech student of Lovely Professional University, Phagwara. The victim Ajay Yadav, presently residing in village Hardaspur near Phagwara, was returning home after attending classes in the university when two motorcyclists snatched his mobile and fled. As soon as the police got information, they acted swiftly and nabbed one of the snatchers Abhishek of Jalandhar. His other accomplice managed to flee.
Woman's gold chain snatched
Phagwara: Two miscreants on a motorcyclist snatched a 15-gm gold chain from a woman in the urban estate locality in Phagwara on Tuesday. Victim Chetna was returning from Swami Sant Dass Public School with her wards when the snatchers snatched her chain and fled. The police have registered a case.
House burgled in village
Phagwara: The house of a villager Hani was reportedly burgled in village Nangal near Goraya on Tuesday night. The unidentified burglars entered in the house after breaking the locks, ransacked the rooms badly and took away cash of thousands of rupees and gold ornaments worth Rs 4 lakh from the house. Family members were away at the time of burglary.The police have registered a case.
Two arrested for smuggling
Hoshiarpur: The police arrested two accused during a raid in the area and recovered a large quantity of intoxicating capsules from them. The accused have been identified as Tanveer Singh, alias Dhanna, and Mohan Lal, residents of Davida Ahirana.
