Four properties, valued at approximately Rs 3 crore, belonging to the kingpin of a cross-border drug smuggling network have been seized.

Resham Singh, who is wanted by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Chandigarh Police in a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, had acquired the properties using drug money and got these registered in the names of his family members.

During their investigation, the police discovered that Resham Singh had purchased a plot in Aerocity, Mohali, a flat in Kharar, a house in Zira, Ferozepur, and agricultural land in Banga Bet village, Balachaur.

The properties have been seized under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, which prevents their sale, transfer, or disposal. “This marks a significant blow to Resham’s drug operations,” the police said. The orders have been forwarded to the competent authority for further action under Section 68-F (2) of the NDPS Act, the police added.

About 10 months ago, the ANTF had arrested three drug peddlers, namely Mohd Imtiyaz, Gagan and Sukhpreet Singh, alias Pardeep, leading to the recovery of 58.13 gm of amphetamine (ice), 121 gm of heroin, 153 gm of gold, four cars and Rs 95,000 in cash. Their interrogation revealed that Resham was the kingpin of the drug syndicate and had ties with Pakistan-based smugglers who supplied him drugs.

Gagan, a notorious drug peddler from Ambala, supplied heroin to Mohd Imtiyaz and had a customer base in his hometown. He was in contact with Resham and Sukhpreet and delivered them more than 10 drug consignments, each containing 4 to 8 kg of heroin. Resham paid Gagan Rs 2 to 3 lakh per consignment.
