Drug peddler in police net
Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling intoxicant tablets. The suspect has been identified as Ismayal, a resident of Chak Chela village falling under the Lohian Khas police station. Investigating officer (IO) Kabul Singh said 110 intoxicant tablets were recovered from his possession. A case under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the suspects.
Villager robbed of bike, 1 held
Phagwara: The Nakodar city police have arrested a person on the charge of robbing a villager of his motorcycle. Investigating officer (IO) Rajindar Pal Singh said the suspect had been identified as Harveer, alias Harri, a resident of Mahun Wal village. Rattan Singh, a resident of Hussain Pur village, told the police that while he was going to his shop in Nakodar on October 17, Harveer and his three accomplices waylaid him on the Shankar Road and robbed him of his motorcycle bearing registration number Punjab-33-C-3165. The suspects fled the spot after committing the crime. The IO said a case under Sections 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 309(4) (robbery) and 3(5) (committing the crime with common intention) of the BNS was registered against the suspect. Raids are being conducted to nab the absconding persons.
Fire breaks out at tyre shop
Phagwara: Goods worth lakhs were reduced to ashes after a fire broke out at a tyre shop at Sri Guru Ravidas Chowk, Baba Gadhia. Shop owner Jeevan said he closed the shop and left for home. After some time, he received a call from a neighbour informing him about the fire. When he reached the spot, he found the shop engulfed in flames. After getting information, a fire brigade team reached the spot and brought the blaze under control. Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire broke out due to a short circuit.
